That phrase sucks. Because one, it IS<\/strong> the heat. And two, if it\u2019s surface-of-the-sun kind of hot, who gives a shit about the humidity? That\u2019s like slapping me twice. I got it the first time. Must be one of those phrases that people say but don\u2019t really think about what it means. Kind of like \u201cIt\u2019s not you, it\u2019s me.\u201d <\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

Oh I disagree. It\u2019s definitely<\/u> you. <\/font><\/p>\n

There are a couple of phrases that we hear ALL the time that you don\u2019t really think about when you say it \u2013 kind of like conversation filler. We all gotta fill the void. To quote Marselles Wallace\u2019s wife from \u201cPulp Fiction\u201d\u2026\u201dthat\u2019s when you really know you\u2019re comfortable with someone\u2026when you can shut the hell up and enjoy the silence.\u201d<\/em><\/font><\/p>\n

Speaking of filler phrases, here are some real gems:<\/font><\/p>\n

\u201cWe should get together soon.\u201d<\/b> Okay, to be fair sometimes you actually mean this. But for the most part, it just comes out and now you\u2019ve got this monologue running through your head: \u201cI don\u2019t actually want<\/i> to hang out. Why would I have said that? Now they\u2019re going to think I want<\/i> us to get together. Jesus! What if they actually invite us out?<\/i> Okay, we can say that your mother died and we can\u2019t go? What? We used that last time? Crap. Do they know your mother? Maybe they won\u2019t remember that she died. By the way, isn\u2019t your mother\u2019s birthday tomorrow? We should call her\u201d<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\u201cAt least you have your health.\u201d<\/b> As opposed to what, not having your health? And who are saying this to? Someone who just totaled their car? Because at that point, I don\u2019t know about you, but I\u2019m still pretty pissed about the car. <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\u201cShit fire and save matches<\/b>.\u201d I heard this a few times. And I got to say is: What. The. Fuck. I mean, seriously? Isn\u2019t there a cream for that? And if I can shit fire, the last thing I\u2019m thinking about is how many matches this is going to save. I\u2019m thinking maybe I should go to the doctor? Or at least consult a carnival. <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\u201cIt could be worse.\u201d<\/b> Again. Worse than what? I guess it could be worse if I don\u2019t have my health. <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n
